Lazaroo – Monday, August 24, 2009
Aug 24, 2009 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in abject humility:
“Ah, sinful nation, a people loaded with guilt, a brood of evildoers, children given to corruption! They have forsaken the LORD; they have spurned the Holy One of Israel and turned their backs on him.”
(Isaiah 1:4)
These words break my heart, Jesus…
…because they describe my nation.
My country, my people, my homeland.
Our guilt is great.
The list of our sins is long.
We have indeed given ourselves to corruption.
We have forsaken You for
pride
fame
power
money
pleasure
acceptance
entertainment
and come up empty.
We have turned our backs on You, the Light
and left ourselves to grope
blindly
painfully
aimlessly
fruitlessly
in the darkness.
Nor is it all “them.”
It’s also me.
I’m part of the problem.
I’m too much like the world in which I live
and too little like You.
Change us O God!
and begin
with me.

Teresa Says:
This expresses exactly what I have been feeling most recently…and everyday I pray 2 Chronicles 7:14…
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
