Lazaroo – Friday, September 3, 2010

Sep 03, 2010 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, from the depths of your soul:

“You learned [the gospel] from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf.”
(Colossians 1:7)

Remind me, Jesus –

who first explained the good news of Your salvation to me?

It’s possible that I don’t remember.

I may not have paid attention the first time
my heart may not have been open
I may not have understood.

But even if their attempt to tell me about You went unnoticed by me

You saw and heard what they did.

More than that!

You sent them
You orchestrated the whole thing
You used their words to prepare the way in my heart.

If that is what happened, they may have left me feeling defeated

they may have thought they did it wrong
that they failed.

But they didn’t!

Because here I am –

in You.

Whoever they are…wherever they are…

bless them, LORD Jesus!

For me it was the army of “Jesus People” of the late 60’s and early 70’s who planted the seed that took nearly a decade to germinate. Then there was the steady train of faithfuls who, at just the right time, watered the seed to keep it from dying in the hard, rocky soil of my heart. Makes me blush to think back to the times I’ve wondered if God really cares about me.
