Lazaroo – Sunday, October 23, 2011

Oct 23, 2011 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with eyes wide open:

“How beautiful you are, my darling! Oh, how beautiful!”
(Song of Songs 1:15)

I have to smile at Solomon’s exuberance, LORD.

He’s filling his eyes with his bride
he’s in love

and he’s starstruck by her beauty.

The thing is, she may not beautiful to anyone else at all –

at least…not that beautiful!

Tastes in beauty change over Millennia.

In my culture, tastes in beauty change from week to week!

If I had a picture of Solomon’s bride

my jaw might drop in disbelief
at how plain she appears to me.

But he wasn’t evaluating her

critiquing her
judging her

he was looking for the beauty in her

and he found it.

Give me that gift, Jesus!

I don’t want to be a blind, sour-faced critic.

Enable me to see the beauty You’ve encoded

into everything You do
everything You’ve made

every person You’ve created.

Our world would be a paradise if we all could see each other as Christ Jesus see’s us. But it is difficult to see what He sees in “us” … yet alone .. look out and see others as He would have us see. Maybe that is why so many get lost in what the world has to offer in things and business, so they don’t have to look for the beauty in each other? And especially in our world .. when someone in childlike exuberance does see beauty of the person .. the thought of others may be .. hmm what is their objective .. I guess we should all be more childlike or love each other as grandparents love their grandchildren. And yet we know there are possible faults to correct in all of us … but in those grandchildren we are overwhelmed by the beauty of Gods creation in character, sweetness & godly potential.
