Lazaroo – Sunday, March 10, 2013

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with sold-out surrender:
“We have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites east of the Jordan, whom you completely destroyed. When we heard of it, our hearts melted and everyone’s courage failed because of you…”
(Joshua 2:10-11)
That was their reputation, Jesus –
the one You gave them.
When Your people camped outside those tall, thick walls of Jericho
the people inside were terrified.
They had built their wall to keep them safe
but they realized nothing could stop these people
because You were with them.
How ironic.
Forty years before…
Your people were terrified by the people of Jericho.
Forty years later…
the people of Jericho were terrified by Your people.
What’s my reputation, Father?
Can people tell You’re with me
because I’m with You?

Ken Says:
“We have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt…” These people had been shaking in their sandals for the entire 40 years Israel wandered in the wilderness, holding their collective breath every time Israel’s meanderings turned them toward Jericho and exhaling a collective sigh of relief each time they again turned away. As is usually the case, only the faint of faith couldn’t see what God wanted to do for them.
