Lazaroo – Thursday, February 14, 2013

Pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo, with a “wait on the LORD” heart toward God:
“This made the king so angry and furious that he ordered the execution of all the wise men of Babylon.”
(Daniel 2:12)
This king’s reaction was just a bit over the top, wasn’t it, Jesus?
When he gave an order, he expected it to be carried out.
Impossible or not.
My guess is, his fury had less to do with the issue at hand
and more to do with the painful reminder that his power had limits.
Of course, there was also his suspicion that these so-called “wise men”
weren’t nearly as wise as they pretended –
that they’d been deceiving him all along.
But still – execute them all?
Clearly, he was overreacting.
Of course, there’s a reason I can discern this so clearly:
Takes one to know one.
Sometimes I overreact, too.
When I hear something shocking
please help me withhold my opinion
till I’ve heard the other side.
