Lazaroo – Monday, February 4, 2013

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with total transparency:
“Like a lily among thorns is my darling among the maidens.”
(Song of Songs 2:2)
Talk like that has made people ill for ages, Jesus –
all but the person for whom it’s intended!
Certainly, it’s wonderful for the woman who hears it –
but it’s so unfair – even untrue…objectively.
If you picked the thousand most beautiful women in the world…
asked a hundred thousand men to vote on them
not one woman would win every vote –
as the one lily…that makes the rest look like thorns!
But that doesn’t mean Solomon lied when he said that to his wife!
He believed it to the bone.
It’s “lover-talk.”
Lovers have been carrying on like that with each other forever –
and meaning it.
There’s only One who fairly and objectively is the Lily
which by every measure of comparison
makes the rest of us look like thorns:
You.
