Lazaroo – Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in humble gratitude:
“The company of the prophets from Jericho, who were watching, said, ‘The spirit of Elijah is resting on Elisha.’ And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him.”
(2 Kings 2:15)
They were right, Jesus.
The spirit of Elijah was resting on Elisha.
The other prophets were right to acknowledge it.
They were even right to honor Elisha as their new leader.
But when they bowed to the ground before him
they crossed a line.
No one deserves that but You.
No matter how gifted, how skilled, how accomplished…
the rest of us are mere mortals
instruments in the hands of Almighty God.
When I make that fatal shift from admiring someone’s
talent
hard work
preparation
education
experience
feats of excellence
to worshiping another human being
I’ve turned them from a blessing
into a curse
which hurts not only me
but also endangers them.

Amen .. indeed! … it’s a curse to them as well …
