Lazaroo – Wednesday, December 19, 2012

Humbly pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud to God:
“Therefore he sacrifices to his net and burns incense to his dragnet, for by his net he lives in luxury and enjoys the choicest food.
(Habakkuk 1:16)
It’s so easy to fall into that trap, isn’t it, Jesus?
You bless me with something that makes my life so much
easier
happier
successful.
At first, I’m grateful beyond words
to You.
But days, weeks, months, years pass.
In time, I forget it was You who gave me the gift.
Then comes the day that my total focus
is on the gift
as though it was always here
had no origin
gave itself.
Unthinkably, the gift
takes Your place in my heart and mind.
It becomes my
source
strength
hope
god.
I look to it
praise it
count on it
exult in it
leaving You with no choice but to smash it to smithereens
because that’s what You do
to idols.

Smashing it to smithereens … wow .. that should keep us aware of who is the giver of all good things!
