Lazaroo – Friday, November 16, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in bemused appreciation:

“They had 736 horses, 245 mules, 435 camels and 6,720 donkeys.”
(Ezra 2:66-67)

Okay, Jesus…

I guess somebody has to count the donkeys

and the mules
and the camels
and the horses.

Why, I don’t know.

But I don’t have to.

You do…and that’s what matters.
That’s what makes it genuinely important.

But I can’t help it! I’m curious:

Is it because donkeys, mules, camels and horses matter to You?
Well…I guess so. You’re the one who invented them.

Is it because they matter to other people?
Sure…to the people who raise, buy and sell them.

Is it because they contribute to the quality of life?
It’s true, they do – transporting people and products
often over long distances.

Or is it – just sometimes – because You created people who like to count things

who are actually quite good at it…

and are always looking for something else to count? 😉

Amazing how many donkeys had to be counted! Love Abba’s sense of humor! Considering a 1000 years later a donkey talks; 400+ years later the King of Kings is riding the back of one while crowds cheer.
Use to think donkeys and mules were the same creature, after reading how they were distinquished and counted did a quick google search – a mule is an offspring of a male donkey with a female horse, distinquishable by their short mane & large ears.
