Lazaroo – Wednesday, August 15, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, from a heart ready to instantly respond:
“So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt…”
(Matthew 2:14)
Maybe this is why Your Father chose Joseph to be Your stepdad, Jesus.
That word:
“So.”
To Joseph, it was automatic.
Unquestioned.
A no-brainer.
When Your Father sent an angel
told him to pack up and leave
Joseph didn’t demand proof
argue with the angel
stall for a more convenient time
try to talk himself out of it by saying –
“It’s just a dream!”
Your stepfather got up in the middle of the night
left behind all the possessions he couldn’t carry
the carpentry business he had built up
his friends, family and familiar surroundings
and took off for Egypt.
When I tell those coming after me
about the times You made it clear You wanted me to act…
may I truthfully be able to say:
“So…
I did it.”

What an awesome responsibility to care for the Redeemer of the world! Praise God, Joseph took his role seriously and acted with obedience.
