Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in amazed discovery:
“I appeal to you for my son Onesimus, who became my son while I was in chains.”
(Philemon 1:10)
I love this, Jesus.
You brought Onesimus into Paul’s life when Paul was in jail
to help Paul when Paul couldn’t help himself.
He became like a son to him –
the son the unmarried Paul thought he’d never have.
By his own admission, Paul was now an old man.
By this time he had been a Christian for what – 25 years?
Although Paul doesn’t mention Onesimus’ age
it’s possible that he was born
before Paul became a believer.
If that’s true…
then You activated Your plan to take care of Paul
before Paul cared anything for You.
Open my eyes, LORD!
Help me look back over my life
and the lives of my ancestors
because You were already at work in my life
before I ever gave myself to You.
