Lazaroo – Monday, March 12, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, secure in the love of God:
“Look, O LORD, and consider, for I am despised.”
(Lamentations 1:11)
When I find out there are people who actually despise me…
it’s hard to describe how that makes me feel.
I guess it’s some mixture of
surprise
hurt
defensiveness
puzzlement
loneliness.
Of course, the first thing I ought to do
is conduct a thorough self-assessment
see if I’ve given them reason to hate me.
If the answer is yes, then I’ve got to go to them
apologize
ask their forgiveness
do whatever it takes to make it right
learn from it
make certain it doesn’t happen again.
But what if I rule that out and determine
they despise me without just cause?
I’ve still got to go to them, don’t I?
do my best to correct any misunderstanding.
But if they despise me because I’m obeying You
I will wear their hatred
as a badge of honor.
