Lazaroo – Tuesday, February 7, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with bottomless trust:
“Your people will be my people…”
(Ruth 1:16)
Wow.
It’s one thing to spend years around someone
then conclude I want to be life-long friends.
It’s quite another thing to make that commitment
sight unseen.
Just because I like the person I know
doesn’t mean I’ll automatically like all their friends and family.
Most of us are related to some pretty strange people
not to mention our quirky friends.
How could Ruth make that terrifying pledge, LORD?
Even more to the point…
how can I?
Because that’s what You want me to say to You, isn’t it?
“Your people will be my people.”
The problem is…
I don’t want to be associated with some of Your people.
Some of them scare me.
Others of them I just don’t like.
But You haven’t called me to merely like Your people.
You’ve commanded me to love them
with all my heart.

🙂 Pastor Steve I know God wants us to have a good laugh now and then .. & some of your comments definitely make me chuckle, yes some of us are pretty quirky. But thankfully this is what God commands of us. But also .. thankfully He give us the ability to love His people like that , Our God is an awesome God.
