Lazaroo – Thursday, September 29, 2011

Ask God for eyes that see the invisible, as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:
“Now Asahel was as fleet-footed as a wild gazelle. He chased Abner, turning neither to the right nor to the left as he pursued him.”
(2 Samuel 2:18-19)
It’s so easy to do what this young man did, Jesus.
He recognized the gift You had given him
and exercised it to the max.
That’s usually a good idea!
You’ve gifted, trained and equipped me
to carry out my holy assignment.
But this time…
Asahel’s single-minded exercise of his gift
cost him his life.
Just because You’ve put a hammer in my hand
doesn’t mean every problem I face is a nail.
Just because I’m holding a phone
doesn’t mean You want me to make that call.
Just because I’m tired
doesn’t mean You want me to quit.
Help me to look beyond the obvious, LORD!
and discover the directions waiting in secret
for those who first seek You.

So true, Pastor Steve. Those He has trained to be caretakers or watchmen on the wall have to let up a bit, we aren’t expected to solve every difficulty .. even if he wants us to be aware of them.
