Lazaroo – Tuesday, September 6, 2011

In shock, pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud to God:
“O LORD, you have appointed them to execute judgment; O Rock, you have ordained them to punish.”
(Habakkuk 1:12)
Why them, Jesus?
Why would You allow an evil person to punish me?
Please understand – I’m not saying You shouldn’t discipline me.
I know You have to.
You’re my Father.
I’m Your child.
When I sin, You’ve got to correct me.
That’s what a loving dad does.
But O LORD!
Why would You permit my discipline to be carried out
by someone who despises You and me?
People like that don’t just drive in the blade –
they twist it, to cause extra pain.
Why would You let them lay even one finger on me?
…unless You want me to understand
that if I’m going to behave
like someone who’s not Your child
then my punishment may be carried out
by someone who’s not my Father.

That is pretty powerful & frightening .. isn’t it .. and to His own people … no one wants to face it especially not us the priviledged ones. God is awesome and loving, but God is a most fearsome God and this nation is under judgement. Zephaniah 2: 1-3
