Lazaroo – Saturday, August 6, 2011

Time to do a little Spirit-inspired reflection, as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:
“By night I went out through the Valley Gate toward the Jackal Well and the Dung Gate…”
(Nehemiah 2:13)
I’ve had extensive experience with Valley Gates, Jackal Wells and Dung Gates, Jesus…
at night.
The Valley Gate…
those times between mountaintop experiences when I feel so low –
low on resources
low on energy
low on ideas
low on hope.
The Jackal Well…
those times when I discover to my horror
that I trusted the wrong people
hopes, plans and dreams shattered
confidence destroyed
left feeling utterly alone.
The Dung Gate…
those times that still rise like a stench in my memory
forcing me to do a lot of shoveling –
of lies, slander, innuendo
rumor, gossip, threats
while the tears rolled down my cheeks.
Looking back, my greatest comfort is this:
I’ve been given only the slightest glimpse
of what You in Your outrageous love
suffered for me.

Pastor Steve – Spirit-inspired reflection ..so true and necessary, and the holy spirit walks us through it. And no mater how difficult the trek, because the Dung gate can be the most tear filled. It’s not what happened to us, instead what we did to those He loves and ultimately to Him. And yes there is no way this journey can even approach the suffering Jesus endured for us.
