Lazaroo – Monday, June 27, 2011

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in sobered awe:

“‘I will destroy her ruler and kill all her officials with him,’ says the LORD.”
(Amos 2:3)

Leadership decapitation?

Oh, Jesus.

What an extreme measure.

But obviously no more extreme
than the suffering they caused.

You hold leaders to a higher standard –

especially gifted ones.

You give them abilities most people don’t have.
You elevate them to positions of authority.

Once gifted and positioned

You expect them to equip and inspire others for good.

But when they don’t

You hold them accountable.

It’s bad enough for anyone to go astray.

It’s even worse when a leader goes astray.

Worse yet when a leader accidentally leads others astray.

But some leaders take perverse delight

in deliberately leading astray as many people as possible.

Those leaders’ days are numbered.

Some You remove through the ballot box.

Others through

scandal
distraction
crisis
sickness
death.

Help them change, LORD!

But if not…

act.

  1. RM Says:

    Leaders are commanded to be ready and to care for those they lead. When someone takes a leadership placement, they must be sure of the goal. They should ask God;
Why am I taking this position?
Is this where you want me?
How can I do the most good?
This is a lot to ask, but a lot is at stake in such a move. Unfortunately, this is why our new leaders are scarce. Many gifted Christians “run for the fishes mouth”. Those that take the place because no one else will are often found lacking, with too much on their plates to attend properly to their new job. Maybe that is why I hold back. I don’t want to be found lacking. But, if it is God’s agenda and not ours, then He will give us everything we need to carry out that purpose….right?
