Lazaroo – Tuesday, June 21, 2011

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with bottomless trust:
“When the creatures moved, I heard the sound of their wings, like the roar of rushing waters, like the voice of the Almighty, like the tumult of an army. When they stood still, they lowered their wings.”
(Ezekiel 1:24)
Never let me forget this image, Jesus!
Just because my wings are lowered
doesn’t mean I won’t fly again.
All it means is
it’s time to stand still.
That scares me, doesn’t it?
standing still.
So long as I’m moving
in what I imagine to be the right direction
I believe I’m making progress.
But movement can be deceptive, can’t it?
When I’m on the move
crashing through the forest
trampling leaves, snapping sticks
I don’t hear as well
my eyes miss much.
There’s a time to stand still
to watch
listen…
until – now wiser –
Your Spirit within me says “Go!”
and the air roars with mighty wings
once again.
