Lazaroo – Wednesday, May 18, 2011

Ask God to enlighten your memory as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:
“So in the course of time Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, ‘Because I asked the LORD for him.’”
(1 Samuel 1:20)
O Jesus.
How much of what I now have is mine…
solely because I asked You for it?
How many prayers have I hurled at heaven
desperate for Your intervention
then received…enjoyed…
completely overlooking the fact that they were answers to prayer?
Hannah didn’t make that mistake.
She begged You for a son
waited…
trusting…
…for as long as it took.
And then her prayer became a living, breathing baby in her arms!
She called him “Samuel,” which means
“Name of God”
“Asked”
because she knew exactly who had done this for her:
You.
Maybe it’s time I named a few of my blessings after You, Father
just to remind me that everything I have
comes from Your hand.
