Lazaroo – Tuesday, May 3, 2011

Seek God’s wisdom and protection as You pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:
“Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, ‘Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.’”
(Matthew 2:7-8)
You’re teaching me two powerful lessons through this passage, Jesus:
First, You’re showing me how treacherous some people can be –
even those You’ve raised up as leaders.
Herod didn’t want to worship You.
He wanted to kill You.
Secondly, You’re teaching me how foolish and blind we human beings can be.
All Herod saw was a threat to his kingship.
It didn’t occur to Him that the King of kings had just been born.
Protect me from lying, treacherous deceivers, Father!
But give me eyes to see when what looks like a threat
is You.
