Lazaroo – Friday, March 11, 2011

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with desperate determination:
“At this they wept again. Then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law good-by, but Ruth clung to her.”
(Ruth 1:14)
O Jesus.
What a picture.
All of their husbands were dead.
Their mother-in-law’s prospects appeared so bleak that she was leaving town.
Logic said this was the moment when her two daughters-in-law should kiss her good-by.
That was the smart play and Orpah took it.
But her sister didn’t.
Ruth clung.
On the surface, it made no sense.
To Orpah, it had to look like Ruth was stepping off a cliff.
There was no way Ruth could have known that by taking this huge risk
she would meet an awesome man in Bethlehem
that their great grandson would become King David
and that 2,000 years later, one of her grandsons
would become the Messiah:
You.
So what will I do next time tragedy strikes?
I’ll cling.
To Ruth’s Great Grandson.

Steve, i found myself searching my own thoughts and getting utterly confused? first, thank you everyday for your encouragment, and total focus on the truth! i read your tetimony earlier this morning, and at first did not want to in fear, but of course my strengh of faith kick started my spirit. WOW! i found myself actually going back in time to your moment (like my own) needing the same validation and finding that the outcome was what i already knew. without such testimonies in this life and world we live in, some would never know the truth, or find Jesus altogether.
