Lazaroo – Wednesday, March 2, 2011

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with renewed determination:
“And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn…the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous…”
(Luke 1:17)
That’s a tall order, Jesus.
Disobedient people may be smart
but they’re never wise.
Not only that…
disobedient people get rather defensive
when anyone tries to point out their disobedience
they really don’t want to hear about it.
The only thing that gets their attention is the pain of impact
when they crash and burn.
And even then…
most of them blame everyone else – even You! – for the mess they created.
Oh, they learn from their mistakes all right
by attempting to disobey more shrewdly next time.
I ought to know.
I’ve nearly completed my Ph.D. in disobedience.
But I’ve decided to drop out of that degree program.
I don’t think I want to stick around for what happens
after graduation.
