Lazaroo – Thursday, February 3, 2011

Allow yourself a glimpse into God’s heart, as you pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud to Him:

“Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.”
(Isaiah 1:17)

This is a big deal to You, isn’t it, Jesus?
A really big deal.

It infuriates You

when the strong walk all over the weak
when the smart take advantage of the mentally challenged
when the rich manipulate the poor
when the wise withhold their knowledge from the clueless
when the hip crowd smirks at the socially inept
when the experienced refuse to help newbies learn the ropes
when the haves lord it over the have-nots
when the in-crowd won’t admit those who long to be included
when the beautiful look down their perfect noses at the plain
when the famous belittle those they consider to be nobodies

You are the Defender of the weak.

May I never give You cause to defend one of them

against me.

Scott, thanks for sharing the song. Makes me want to hear it. If you get the chance, search You Tube for “Somebody Like Me” by Jason Crabb. Several versions will come up, but listen to the one that says (new edit). Powerful video and same concept as “If We Are the Body”.

Isaiah 1:17 – Even though it says the “fatherless” and the “widow”, it makes me think of men (and women) who find themselves as a parent and/or a spouse, but in reality they do not come close to fulfilling the responsibilties of these roles. Society is so broken and our responsibilty as Christians is so far reaching. Lord help us to see people through your eyes and respond with your heart.
