Lazaroo – Friday, January 21, 2011

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, from the depths of your soul:
“God, who has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace.”
(2 Timothy 1:8-9)
No matter how many times somebody tells me this
no matter how many sermons on grace I hear
it’s still hard for me to grasp, Jesus:
It’s You. Not me.
I believe that!
And it’s a good thing, too –
because if my salvation depended on my character and my track record
I’d go straight to hell.
If I was so full of myself
that I imagined I could present my credentials at Your gates
and gain immediate access to eternal life in heaven
I’d quickly discover that the eternal accommodations my own life had secured
were a horror beyond all nightmares combined.
Intellectually, I understand that.
But emotionally?
I’m overwhelmed that You love me this much.

Todd Says:
Steve, May god continue to bless you and your ministry. your so called “hand granade” approach was some what over the top at the beginning, but alas, the truth is all we need to here and tell one another. Please continue to study as you do so we can praise the father for all he does for us and will continue to do for all of time. I do use other on line study groups, but am finding your straight shooting approach, more refreshingly honest and to the point. We are praying for you.
