Lazaroo – Monday, July 19, 2010

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with total transparency:

“…make every effort to add to your faith…perseverance …”
(2 Peter 1:5-6)

I know what’s right, Jesus.

I’ve done the right thing time and time and time again –

For that I have You to thank.

For all the good I’ve done

all the glory belongs to You.

But the thing I’ve got to get a whole lot better at

is perseverance.

I don’t want to just start well

I want to finish well.

I’ve got plenty of good intentions.

When I launch something worth doing, I mean to see it through.

But too many times over the years

when I got criticized
when the going got tough
when I just flat-out got tired of the battle

I threw up my hands and cried,
“Who needs this?”

I jumped ship.
I didn’t persevere.

Holy Spirit, rise up in power within me:

Don’t let me be a quitter!

In Jesus’ Name.

  1. Lady B. Says:

The Oxford dictionary’s definition of the word ‘perservance
is “to continue steadfastly especially in something that is difficult or tedious.” Coupled with the right understanding, perseverance can be an extremely valuable thing for a Christian. Wouldn’t you say? In the book of Daniel, we have the young man Daniel who has the faith coupled with
tenacity to believe God. Daniel 3:17: “If it be so, our God
whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery
furnance, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O King.
But if not, be it known unto thee, O King, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou
has set up. There are many scriptures in God’s Word whereby he has done great things for his people. Here is
evidence of faith without presumption. In other words:’Our
God can save and deliver us. But even if He decides not to, we will not break His law and worship your golden
image.’My sincere prayer today is that we will all be as
steadfast as those three Hebrew worthies were, in the final HOUR OF TEMPATION! To do this we must be able
    to PERSEVERE!!!
