Lazaroo – Tuesday, May 25, 2010

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with horrified resolve:
“Rebuke your mother, rebuke her, for she is not my wife, and I am not her husband. Let her remove the adulterous look from her face and the unfaithfulness from between her breasts.”
(Hosea 2:2)
Okay…
now that I’m over the initial shock
show me what You want me to see, Jesus.
This is You
speaking to Your children.
The mother they are to rebuke is their own country
the nation of Israel.
She is the wife who is no longer Your own
because she has rejected You as
her God
her LORD
her husband
and chosen to commit spiritual adultery through her worship of Baal
who is no god at all.
But even in Your anger
You hint at forgiveness
if she will only change her ways.
Please give me the courage to rebuke the idolatry of my country
so she can change
before it’s too late.

Sam Says:
Read the entire passage of Hosea 2 – it makes the meaning of this become very clear – we simply can’t continue to ‘do our own thing’ and expect blessings to fall on us….
And we are going to have to ‘draw a line in the sand’ and drum up the courage to live out loud what we say we believe.
