Lazaroo – Sunday, January 31, 2010

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud all the way to the marrow of your bones:
“Whenever the tabernacle is to move, the Levites are to take it down, and whenever the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall do it. Anyone else who goes near it shall be put to death.”
(Numbers 1:51)
Wow, Jesus.
That’s kind of the ultimate penalty for doing someone else’s job.
I know You’re kind, compassionate, loving and forgiving.
You proved that on the cross.
So why would You execute any non-Levite who dared to go near Your tabernacle?
This really gets my attention
because You’re the same today as You were then.
I see that You absolutely will not allow any of us to
treat You in an offhand manner
take You for granted
disrespect You
without sooner or later – in one way or another –
facing lethal consequences.
Okay.
I don’t pretend to understand.
But one thing is perfectly clear:
When You speak
I’d better listen.

We are studying Exodus and the setting up of the tabernacle in Kris and Karen’s Monday night Bible study. I am learning the meaning of so many things that I never understood before and why it’s important and how it points to Jesus! Years ago when I became a Christian and began reading the Bible (Old Testament) I think I learned that God is God and He will do whatever He wants, when He wants and that’s the way it is….take it or leave it…what other choice did I have? I knew the ‘other’ choice. I think I really learned to ‘fear the Lord’ but I don’t feel afraid of Him…..I know He does what’s best for me. I just pray our kids would learn that, so many young people don’t know the Old Testament nor do they think it’s relevant anymore.
