Lazaroo – Friday, December 18, 2009

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in paradigm-shattering wonder:
“Now these are the people of the province who came up from the captivity of the exiles, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had taken captive to Babylon (they returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his own town…”
(Ezra 2:1)
Those people had to be ecstatic, Jesus.
They were going home!
But after their initial excitement, they may have struggled with second thoughts.
This foreign land of Babylon was all most of them had ever known.
Their true home – Israel – was distant, unfamiliar, unknown.
I can identify.
The moment I put my trust in You
Heaven became my true home.
But this foreign land of harsh captivity called “earth”
is all I have ever known.
Help me, Jesus!
Teach me how to live out of a suitcase while I’m here
and how to send everything I truly value on ahead.
