Lazaroo – Thursday, September 24, 2009

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with pure devotion:

“…while [Jesus] was eating with them, he gave them this command: ‘Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised…’”
(Acts 1:4)

Waiting is hard for me, Jesus.

Especially when I think I can clearly see what needs to happen –

that there exists a tiny open crack under the window of time
that is about to close.

It had to look like that to Your followers.  It must have felt to them it was essential to get out of this city that was full of people who had killed You –

and were determined to do the same to them.

But in spite of all the visible evidence, it wasn’t time for them to leave, was it?

They needed You, Holy Spirit! – the gift the Father promised.

So do I.

More than ever.

Fill me with Yourself, Holy Spirit!

As I wait on You.

It seems that just when I think I get the patience of waiting on God, a new issue arises that reminds me that I need more work.
