Lazaroo – Sunday, September 13, 2009
3 comments, Sep 13, 2009
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with burning emotion:
“This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘Turn from your evil ways and your evil practices.’”
(Zechariah 1:4)
That’s pretty straightforward, LORD.
You expect me to change.
Boom.
Just like that.
Immediately.
No hem hawing around.
No procrastination.
No excuses.
Just do it.
The thing is…
I can!
You’ve given me the power to change –
not in my strength –
but in Yours.
Not only do I know it’s the right thing for You and others…
I know it’s what’s best for me.
So why haven’t I up till now?
Habit?
Peer pressure?
Failure to comprehend the spiritual authority You’ve given me over
my own body
my sinful nature
the devil himself?
LORD, forgive me!
I don’t want to live this far beneath my new birthright.
I long to live in the triumphant freedom only You can give!
In Your holy Name, LORD Jesus –
so be it.

Good thoughts.
It be really cool to turn this prayer into a poem.
