Lazaroo – Saturday, September 12, 2009

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with steely determination:
“You have planted much, but have harvested little.
You eat, but never have enough.
You drink, but never have your fill.
You put on clothes, but are not warm.
You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.”
(Haggai 1:6)
I’ve known all of these, Jesus.
Firsthand.
Some of it wasn’t my fault.
After all, the curse You put on the ground because of Adam’s sin is still in effect.
On top of that –
the blunders of others have cost me plenty.
But more times than I can count
I’ve brought this maddening frustration on myself.
There have been times when I
took my eyes off the goal
didn’t try hard enough
didn’t follow through
forgot You.
There’s nothing I can do about Murphy’s Law or the actions of others.
But O LORD!
Please help me clean up my own act.

…and please, oh God, help me to remember that the first step in this clean-up operation is to give myself again and afresh to You.
