Mar 24, 2009 I Lazaroo.

To the holy and faithful brothers in Christ.
(Colossians 1:2)

If I had been a member of this church when Paul wrote to them, would they have shown his letter to me?  Do others see me as holy and faithful?

Far more importantly:  Do You?

I long to be holy and faithful in Your eyes, LORD.  Not perfect.  As a human being, I could never be that.

But as You look into my soul, I want You to see a person who loves You too much to deliberately displease You.

As You watch my every move, I want You to see a person who never takes a day off from living for You.

I am so far short of that!

But look deep into me and see, Jesus:

That is my goal.

It is too much to dare believe for me that God will say, “Well done,” when my days here on Earth are finished. I am so grateful, though, that despite that – I can always expect to hear Him say “I love you.”

Never taking a day off…that’s a pretty radical concept. Society today often encourages us to take a break, kick back and relax, take a mental health day, etc. But our walk with God is something that should be SO ingrained in our every thought and action that we never take a ‘break’ from living according to His will. It’s not the sort of thing where we can say, ‘Oh, I’ve been good for a few weeks, it’s ok if I’m just a little bad just this once’. It needs to be all or nothing.

It’s easy to skim over the introductory first few lines of the letters–but even there, God holds wisdom for us. How very humbling.
