Lazaroo – Tuesday, March 3, 2009

Mar 03, 2009 I Lazaroo.

“The king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, ‘When you help the Hebrew women in childbirth, if it is a boy, kill him; but if it is a girl, let her live.’ The midwives, however, feared God and did not do what the king told them to do; they let the boys live.” (Exodus 1:15-17)

I know You want me to submit to my country’s leaders, Jesus – so long as they don’t tell me to disobey You.

But You alone know my heart. Do I fear You as much as those midwives did? If I had to choose, would I risk imprisonment, torture – even my very life – rather than disobey You?

I hope so, but better people than I have been certain they would give it all up for You…and been proven wrong.

O God! Make Your strength rise up within me!

This Lazaroo reminds me how difficult it is to keep our mind’s focused on what it should be. We can walk around say – even with conviction, that we would die before denouncing our Savior. We can believe, somehow, that our faith is more unwavering than Peter’s as He denied Him thrice.

Lord, please help me to let go of any superior thought that comes in my mind and help me embrace humility. Let me trust not in my own bold announcements of my faith, but instead, trust that YOU can do all things in me.

Pastor Steve ~ your sermon this weekend was right on target as always. As much as I hate to admit it, I sometimes have problems with staying focused when spending time with God, and yes, even finding the time on some days. Your suggestion on taking one minute to say the Lord’s Prayer was brilliant! Thank you for your ministry and for this new Lazaroo idea ~ love it!

For those of you who did not receive your Lazaroo today, please accept our deepest apologies. It was a glitch in our system (me). We found the problem (me). We’re correcting (me).

Sigh. I so wanted it to be our e-mail autoresponder’s fault.

I need that reminder too, Kathy. The tug from human beings – especially through our friends, family and co-workers – is strong. I’m so glad you are doing this with us.

What a way to start the day!!! To be reminded that we need to fear God more than man. It is so tempting to follow what man says is right. Thanks for the reminder.

My Lazaroo did not show up in my email box this morning. If this happened to you too, I deeply apologize. This cannot happen. You have made a daily commitment and we have failed to back you up.

I checked to be sure today’s Lazaroo was on the site at 1:30 this morning and it was, so I relaxed. That meant our e-mail program should have automatically picked it up and sent it to you.

I promise you we will do everything in our power to correct this issue. If necessary, we will change our e-mail autoresponder immediately. We told you at the outset that we were in rough beta…but this is the one thing I didn’t want to happen.

Hang in there with us. We’ll stay with it until we get it right.
