Apr 15, 2009 I Lazaroo.

“God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.”
(1 John 1:5-6)

I hate hypocrisy, Jesus.

But that’s how this Bible passage makes me feel – like a hypocrite.

How is it I’m able to do this right now – have “fellowship” with You – even though I’m battling “darkness” in other areas of my life?

O God!

I thought by now I would be stronger.  Why am I still stumbling over sins that have tripped me up for as long as I can remember?

I don’t want to live a lie.  I know where liars end up.

May the honesty You and I are experiencing right now…

…continue with blazing purity throughout every moment of this day.

“Whats going on inside of me?
    I despise my own behavior
This only serves to confirm my suspicions
That Im still a man in need of a savior”

To recognize that in the very realization that I have neither the ability nor desire within myself to live a life acceptable to God is my only hope of fellowship with Him. It is this kind of mind-spinning paradox that reminds me that faith in the living God is, indeed, real and not something I could (or would desire to) fabricate on my own.

  3. John Tevault Says:

It is hard to admit that we do stumble, but I don’t sin on purpose and by knowing when I’ve sinned I know that I am seeking God for then I ask forgiveness and pray for the wisdom of our Lord to guide me
