Lazaroo – Monday, May 4, 2009

May 04, 2009 I Lazaroo.

“‘Return to me,’ declares the LORD Almighty, ‘and I will return to you.’”
(Zechariah 1:3)

Oh, Jesus.

How can You say this to me – knowing who I am, what I’ve done – what I’ve failed to do?

Are You really promising that if I return to You, You will treat me as though my sins never happened?

Even…that one?

O God.

Your love is beyond anything I have ever known!

The prayer I am praying right now proves I have returned to You.

This far.

Holy Spirit, please give me a picture of who I would be if I dared to return all the way to You in every area of my life.

Show me that picture every day for the rest of my life.

Until the day I look in my mirror and see looking back at me…

…Your vision fulfilled.

What amazes me is that when we go through life, we see that people abandon us. Some do it for cause, some perhaps unjustly. To know that God, who has the MOST cause will never leave us, keeps me sane, grounded, and faithful – as faithful as my frail humanity will allow, anyway.
