May 09, 2009 I Lazaroo.“I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

Immerse me in You, Holy Spirit!
Drench me.
Soak me.
Penetrate me.
Plunge me deep in Your rivers of Living Water, Jesus!
Saturate every pore of my skin.
Fill every hole in my soul.
Wash me and make me clean.
Sweep me away in the surging floodwaters of Your overwhelming love, holy Father!
Tumble me head-over-heels through the churning white surf of Your irresistible power.
Tear me away from the unsafety of these shameful shallows and propel me out to sea in the riptide of Your dangerous destiny for me.
I’ve got to have You!
But even more…
I’m desperate for You to have all…all…all…of me.

Ken Ferry Says:
“He cannot ravish, He can only woo” (C.S. Lewis, Screwtape Letters). I have often felt as you express here, Steve. But, my years in pursuit of Jesus have taught me that I must voluntarily swim away from those unsafe and shameful shallows if I am ever to experience the wonders of being buoyed only by Gods grace, secured only by His strong current that would lead me to what God alone knows.
And, I can tell you from repeated personal experience that it is always possible to swim back to shore and drag oneself onto dry land coughing and gasping for air after the storms of doubt have brought waves crashing over and the gravity of weariness have threatened to pull under.
But, the call of the deep never dies away, though it may be squelched for a time, and the follower of Christ will always find himself again swimming away from those unsafe and shameful shallows.
