Apr 09, 2009 I Lazaroo.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds.”
(James 1:2)

Jesus, You make it clear that tough times test my faith, which develops my perseverance and leads to maturity and completeness.

But try though I might, when I’m hit by another blow, it feels almost impossible to consider it “pure joy.”

Am I simply forgetting how good these trials are for me?  Or is my problem far deeper: that I don’t really believe You?

You’re no liar.

If you tell me these trials are, in fact, wonderful for me, then it’s true.

Drive that stake of truth deep in my heart, Holy Spirit!

…so deep that every trial I face is – by faith – accompanied by a burst of pure joy.

Thank you. I needed to be reminded of this today. God’s word is always timely, always pertinent.
