May 05, 2009 I Lazaroo.

“‘I have loved you,’ says the LORD.”
(Malachi 1:2)

Why do you have to tell me this, Jesus?

It’s because I too easily forget, isn’t it?

Please forgive me!

When I fail to remember the countless ways You’ve shown Your love to me, I leave myself wide open to satanic self-pity.  I start feeling unimportant, all alone and unloved.

But Satan is a liar.

Maybe I ought to take a few moments to thank You for every single thing You did for me yesterday, large and small.

What if I did that again tomorrow – and the next day and the next?

That wouldn’t scratch the surface, would it?  How many times over the years have You stepped in to help, guide and protect me without my ever knowing it?

Oh, my God!

There’s no denying it.

I am loved.

Self pity is a like being in a room with a one-way mirror. One can only see the self, while God can look through the same glass and see the individual and the subject is unaware of God’s presence. Lord, help me convert the mirror to a window.
