I guess everybody has some power, Jesus…
no matter how little.

Some people have a lot of power.

But that doesn’t begin to describe what You possess.

You have all power!

Every expression of strength in heaven or on earth
hidden or visible

comes directly from You.

When You release it

it flows.

One silent command from You

and it stops.

Dictators plot coups
voters cast ballots

but You alone elevate leaders to power
or topple them from their lofty perches.

You are the Author of all life.

When You spoke me into existence
I was conceived.

On the day You withdraw
Your breath from my body

I’ll die.

But that day need not cause me to fear.

Because I’ve put my faith in You

the same power
that raised You from the dead

lives in me.
