Lazaroo – Friday, August 5, 2011

Aug 05, 2011 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, absolutely baffled by the goodness of God:

“The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly…”
(1 Timothy 1:14)

Me too, Jesus.

I’m not close to being in Paul’s league –
but in this one area I think I can match him:

You’ve been far better to me than I deserve.

I know what I am.
Thank God, some of my sins are in the distant past

but not nearly enough of them.

To my utter shame

some of them are

embarrassingly
humiliatingly
inexcusably

fresh.

Did I say “fresh?”

I’m sorry.
Not fresh.

I should have said “recent.”
“Fresh” is totally inaccurate.

Most of my sins aren’t new at all.

I’m fighting the same old battles with my sinful nature

over
and over
and over again.

Like rotten eggs, my sins stink.

And still…You insist on blessing me in ways large and small

over
and over
and over again?!

Your grace…

stuns me.

This brought back a memory of an old hymn we used to sing that was so true! Grace grace, God’s grace,, grace that is greater than all my sins…….
What a wonderful reminder of God’s grace to us Pastor!!
