Lazaroo – Friday, January 7, 2011
Jan 07, 2011 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with heavenly wisdom:
“I was…extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers.”
(Galatians 1:14)
Well, I can see this both ways, Jesus.
On the one hand, traditions can be blinding
they can hold me back
tempt me to quit thinking
rob me of a fresh outlook
tie me to a past that no longer exists.
On the other hand, traditions provide stability
over time, become precious to me
give me the warm comfort of familiarity
ground me in truths that have been
tried
tested
proven.
In this change-a-minute world
traditions give me a handful of things I know I can count on.
Perhaps it’s not “traditions” I have to worry about.
Perhaps it’s when I fall into Saul’s trap of becoming
“extremely zealous” for traditions.
Or, for that matter…
extremely zealous against traditions.
Wouldn’t I be far better off
to just follow You?

A fellow brother at work and myself were just discussing this matter this morning and gloryfing the fathers words concerning this topic. Thanks for your prayers and comitment!
