Lazaroo – Friday, July 23, 2010

Jul 23, 2010 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with outrageous adoration:

“I ask that we love one another.”
(2 John 1:5)

That’s not exactly a small request, Jesus.

Second only to loving You with all my heart, soul, mind and strength

it’s the whole ball of wax
it’s everything.

You make it clear that if I don’t love others

I don’t know You at all.

In fact, You go so far as to say if I claim to love You but hate my brother –

obnoxious and detestable though he may be –

I’m a liar
I don’t love you at all.

That thought terrifies me!

But You also turn it around –

You assure me that if I truly love other believers

You live in me
Your love is made complete in me.

And it gets even better –

You tell me that if I live in love
I live in You

and You…

live in me.

Love is what I want to do in my life. But sometimes I find myself not doing that. Wow big step for all of us…loving everyone is a big order to handle. I just prey to the Lord to help me in this task, and fogive me when I fail.

After having just read the book of Lamentations, loving one another is something we need to get around to. And that right quick !! The Lord laid waste to Jerusalem because His people did not obey His commands. Even after decades of warning them that they were facing destruction, they would not repent. Jesus said “A new command I give you, Love one another “.
Why is it so easy to love those who love us but, so hard to LOVE those who don’t love us?
Why can’t I be more like Jesus, who, while hanging on a cross loved us enough to pray for our forgiveness?
I have a lot of growing up to do. May the Lord be patient with me!
