Lazaroo – Friday, June 11, 2010
Jun 11, 2010 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with no-holds-barred surrender:
“…he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth.”
(Luke 1:15)
This is so fascinating, Jesus
and humbling
and puzzling.
Why did Your heavenly Father make this rule for John
and not for You?
Did it have something to do with the very different tasks God assigned to each of You?
Did John’s character need that added discipline, in order to steel him
for the short, rugged road he was about to travel?
Did John have an addictive personality?
Would taking his first drink have led him down a path
that would have diluted – or even destroyed –
his ministry?
But this isn’t just about You and John, is it?
Am I willing to give up any pleasure You allow others
in order to please You?
