Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in dumfounded amazement:

“…we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God…”
(1 Corinthians 1:23-24)

I guess I must be one of the called, Jesus.

Because to me…

Your crucifixion demonstrated unimaginable power.

You are the God who created

the thorns of the crown they shoved into Your scalp
the tree of the cross from which they hung Your body
the iron of the nails they drove into your hands and feet

the hand that gripped the hammer that drove the nails
the mouths that cursed, jeered and spit in Your face
the brains that stubbornly refused to believe.

With a single thought…

You could have ripped the arm off the soldier

who raised the hammer

before he drove that first nail.

but because of Your outrageous love for me…

You didn’t.
