Lazaroo – Friday, June 4, 2010
Jun 04, 2010 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with rock-solid faith:
“On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, the month of Shebat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to the prophet Zechariah son of Berekiah, the son of Iddo.”
(Zechariah 1:7)
I love this kind of detail, Jesus.
Well, actually…I don’t at first.
Even though this date is important to Zechariah, it doesn’t mean much to me.
Without looking it up, I wouldn’t know –
who Zechariah’s father and grandfather were
that Shebat is the fifth month of the Jewish year, corresponding to my January-February.
that the Darius Zechariah referred to was Persia’s Darius I, or that the second year of his reign fell in about 520 B.C.
But on reflection, these strange-sounding dates and names mean a great deal to me.
They remind me that everything Zechariah says is
real, documented, verifiable history.
Just like the rest of Your inerrant, absolutely reliable Word.

Hi Steve,
I love the way you brought out the logic of your thesis in so simple to behold beauty!
Yes it is evident that the Bible needs no proof as it is it’s own ‘living & breathing’ witness to it’s accuracy and infallibility; both via historical record as you brought out so well and prophetic accuracy of predicting details across the millenniums of time!
It is no wonder, it (God) states, “The fool has said in his heart,“There is no God.” ” (Psalm 14:1)
Thanks for the short yet powerful reminder of God’s Wisdom! 🙂
