Lazaroo – Friday, March 18, 2016
Mar 18, 2016 I Lazaroo.
Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your heart:
“…the house of Jacob will possess its inheritance.”
(Obadiah 1:17)
That’s an easy distinction to overlook, Jesus.
It’s one thing to be left an inheritance
another thing to possess it.
The promise of an inheritance is beautiful, motivating, comforting
but if it doesn’t pan out
it’s devastating.
You’ve promised me an unimaginably great inheritance in heaven
which is mine by faith.
My faith, however
is confirmed by my obedience.
Last time I checked
faith without deeds is dead.

Hi Pastor, I am not sure if I can text a question as well as talk to you about it, at least in this situation. Today’s Lazaroo has me a bit confused. I think it derives from how you phrase it so well. Don’t think I am smart enough. I certainly understand that our glorious inheritance is our place in Heaven and that is dependent on our faith in and acceptance of Jesus as our Savior. That faith should lead to obedience as we must follow the good path and lead a Christian ‘s life which is our good deeds and actions. Could you please explain the last statement – faith without deeds is dead.I think you are saying that faith and good deeds must go with each other. Does the passage lead to the conclusion that one does not have to do good deeds but only faith and acceptance is all that is needed for our heavenly inheritance? AS YOU CAN SEE, I AM NOT UNDERSTANDING the distinction. (Wish I had your IQ!) Yours in Christ, Bob.
