Lazaroo – Friday, October 21, 2011

Oct 21, 2011 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, fueled by your relentless pursuit of Jesus:

“I tried cheering myself with wine…”
(Ecclesiastes 2:3)

Wine works, Jesus…

for some people
sometimes.

I know one or two people who try cheering themselves with whine –

though it doesn’t do a whole lot for those of us
who have to live with them.

Our strategies for cheering ourselves are as varied as our personalities –

family gatherings
competitive sports
close relationships
quilting clubs
an entertaining television series
redecorating a room
writing elegant code
giving a thoughtful gift – anonymously
reading a gripping novel
playing video games
traveling abroad
going for a walk in the woods
skydiving
making a tough sale
sipping a good cup of coffee
bargain shopping
sneaking in a midday power nap
watching a feel-good movie
serving the poor

But as enjoyable as some of these activities are
none of them has the ability to cheer me up every time.

That distinction belongs solely

to You.

“take heart, I’ve conquered the world…” yay! Jesus won and by His victory we can be winners too. I choose to be His and win because I’m on His side!
