Lazaroo – Friday, September 4, 2009

Sep 04, 2009 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in rock-ribbed faith:

“What the locust swarm has left the great locusts have eaten;
what the great locusts have left the young locusts have eaten;
what the young locusts have left other locusts have eaten.”
(Joel 1:4)

I’ve had days like this, Jesus.

In fact, I’ve gone through entire seasons when it felt like

I couldn’t finish handling one problem
before the next one showed up

I felt as though

I had been stripped of everything worth living for –
that there wasn’t enough of me left
to make it worth going on

But that was a function of my ignorance, wasn’t it?

In the insanity of that moment I couldn’t see…

…that You were preparing me

for wonderful things I wouldn’t have missed for anything in the world.

O God!

Next time I sink into that bleak state

please remind me not to take permanent action

to fix a temporary problem.

    No one likes to be polished, but if more thought is given to it, no one wants to remain unpolished. Thank you, Lord, that you decide about my refinement.
