Lazaroo – Monday, January 24, 2011

Jan 24, 2011 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with stubborn faith:

“While he was still speaking, yet another messenger came and said, ‘Your sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother’s house, when suddenly a mighty wind swept in from the desert and struck the four corners of the house. It collapsed on them and they are dead, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!’”
(Job 1:18-19)

He heard the second-worst news any dad could hear, Jesus –

all his children
dead.

One moment he’s full, happy, on top of the world
the next he’s empty, broken, at the bottom of the pit

no way to see it coming
to hug them one more time

not a word of explanation.

Only one thing could be worse:

to have every child live to be a hundred
enjoying success, happiness and comfort

but reject the gospel

and miss spending eternity in heaven with You.

For those who are left behind it’s difficult to understand God’s plan in the midst of what seems to be nothing but tradgedy. However what would be the greater tradgedy? To lose your loved ones unexpectantly or living for years on end with the knowledge that they didn’t know Christ? God’s word encourages us to “Train up a child in the way he should go when he is young and when he is old he will not turn from it”. Job understood the importance of that truth and at least once his mourning for their initial loss was over he did’nt have to mourn a lifetime about their eternal dwelling place. As a parent this was my greatest fear, however the Lord in His grace has taken that fear away, in seeing my children come to a saving faith in Christ. I’ve been granted that ” peace that passes all understanding”.
