Lazaroo – Monday, January 31, 2011

Jan 31, 2011 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with every fiber of your being:

“…now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.”
(1 Peter 1:6)

Please.

Not that, Jesus.

Why?

Why does suffering have to be such a huge part of the Christian life?

Isn’t that bad advertising for people thinking about following You?
I mean, come on – who in his right mind would sign up for that?

And why me?

I’m no masochist.
I don’t get pleasure out of pain.
Everything in me runs from suffering.

I hate it
despise it
abhor it.

I know, I know…

suffering is supposed to be good for me
teach me lessons
build my character
burn the sin out of me
mature me.

But if it’s all the same to You, I’d rather mature by having fun.

Except…

those who’ve never suffered

are the shallowest people I know.
